Greetings Friends of GNSH:

The Board of Directors is excited to announce $10,000 in grant funding to support two research studies that will investigate the use and associated outcomes of the GNSH 30-minute team engagement campaign in academic settings. GNSH invites proposals from faculty or researchers, as well as doctoral students, interesting in exploring how teamwork, communication, and collaboration remain a focus when health professions students are attempting to best understand how to improve patient safety outcomes.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, GNSH learned that many colleges and universities were using the team engagement cases to provide instructional continuity and aid in the progression of health profession students, as students were not able to access clinical facilities and health professional educators attempted to provide clinical educational experiences virtually.  With this recent change in the use of these cases, GNSH, in collaboration with several other organizations, will solicit proposals which will explore their use in academic settings and in doing so, to assess and measure the efficacy of the 30-minute team engagement campaign in raising awareness and understanding of patient safety competencies with students working in inter-professional teams.

This grant funding would not be possible without the financial support of several organizations and friends, whom are also committed to exploring the effectiveness of these interventions in higher education settings. The GNSH Board of Directors shares our gratitude for these partners including Laerdal, INACSL, NLN, and other supporters.
